“Perhaps it was a sense of theatre that made us human ages ago”

This quotation, penned decades ago by the legendary scenic designer Robert Edmund Jones is still apt for our world today. Through the theatre and the human stories we tell, we discover our common humanity. As we inhabit our lives onstage and off we struggle to understand our world and our place in it. If we here at Wellesley College have any common goal for our theatre it is that it serve as a source of enlightenment and joy for those who create it and those who attend it. We look forward to welcoming you on this wondrous adventure this coming season.

‘“Wilder brilliantly made even the most mundane human actions take on surprising beauty and worth.  Hussey and company bring the same kind of inspired freshness to “Our Town” itself.”

“Our Town is one of the most revered plays of the American classic theater -- and the Wellesley Summer Theatre Company does Thornton Wilder proud (playing at Wellesley College thru June 28th).  His extraordinary portrait of “ordinary lives” is lovingly brought to life by Nora Hussey’s talented resident actors.”
